The Pabst Blue Ribbon Vessel.
I entered in the Pabst Blue Ribbon 3D contest, so I decided to create a vessel. Captain Pabst did own a ship like this one, but I wanted to really show the Pabst Branding throughout the entire ship. I started to build the main shape with cardboard pieces I had laying around.
I then added details by cutting up a PBR box and cutting out individual pieces in the shape of planks for the deck. I then lightly sanded and weathered with dry brushes to give it a worn look.
For the water effect, I created a wedge base out of cardboard and used insulation foam to create the shape of the crashing waves. I then spray painted a deep blue and a sea salt green once the foam dried. I then layered 7 tubes of clear caulk on top of the foam to give it more of a wet look and then splattered a watered down white acrylic paint to highlight it all.
Here are a few shots of smaller details to really show the over all piece. All masts are hand roped and tied to attach the sails. There is also details of barnacles and shells in the corner.
The end result is absolutely stunning. This project took me a week to build and even though I did not win the competition, I still loved making this ship!
